Worship With Thanksgiving - John Davis

My wife and I decided to go see a movie tonight. We rarely go because most movies aren't worth paying to see, but this was a recommended "go see", so we did. That movie was called BLIND SIDE. It is not a spiritual movie, but it does have a message behind it and is based on the true story of Michael Oher who currently plays in the NFL for the Baltimore Ravens.

As I watched this movie I was moved to see "kindness and love" with no strings attached. I also saw what would have happened to this young boy if that kindness and love would have never been shown. I honestly had to hold back the tears at the end of the movie. As a believer in Messiah Yeshua, the message to me was loud and clear.

Psalms 82: 3-4 - Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; free them from the hand of the wicked.

Deuteronomy 10:18 - He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing.

Yeshua said it best in Matthew 25:31-40. He said that when I was hungry you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was naked and you clothed me, you know the story. They said, "when did we do all these things?" And Yeshua said, "when you did it to the least of these, you did it to me." Now I know that you do have to be careful because the enemy will try and come to steal, kill, and destroy, but when the Lord moves you to do a thing [and make sure it's the LORD and not your emotions ] don't miss out on blessing those that He would have you bless.

You might be wondering what this has to do with, or how does this pertain to worship? As we show the kindness, compassion, and love of the Messiah to those who are hurting and in need, aren't we taking care of YHVH'S creation? All are created in His image though not all are His. However, by your act of kindness to those He would lead you to, you are planting a seed. After that,  you can water it with prayer.

This is true WORSHIP by action. Webster's defines worship as: excellence of character; dignity; worth; worthiness. To adore, to honor, to respect, to treat with civil reverence. This sounds a lot like what Yeshua summed up on keeping the Torah.

He said in Matthew 22:37-40 - You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Torah and the Prophets.

When we think of our brother's and sister's more than ourselves, or helping those in need as the Lord leads, hey ... maybe it's just a life giving word for someone without hope. When we do these things we are worshipping the Lord, because we are HONORING His word and RESPECTING what belongs to Him.

We are planting seeds of kindness to redeem what He has created.....isn't that what the Lord commissioned us to do??  The harvest is ready out there my brother's and sister's... so let's go WORSHIP the Lord!!!
