Worship and Warfare - Terri Davis

Worship and Warfare- by Terri Davis

Worship and warfare is not only biblical, but are necessary.  Worship always went ahead of the army not separate from it. Worship was an important part of the army of God.  When we worship and dance the Lord inhabits the praises of his people.  This is an act of humility on our part saying we can't fight the battle but Lord you can.  It is total surrender.  Do you know why the enemy hates worship?  Because, Satan himself was Gods’ worship leader.  The whole reason for his existence was to worship God. In (Ez. 28:13-15) You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering:  The sardius, topaz, diamond, beryl, onynx, jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold.  The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes was prepared for you on the day you were created.  You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you.  You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.  You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you.

This is why there is warfare in worship. We are taking his place.

There are five weapons we must use in worship.  The first weapon is the word of God, in (Heb 4:12; Rev.1: 16) it says "Let the high praises of God be in our mouth, and a two edged sword in their hand" the two edged sword is the word of God.

The second weapon is singing, in (Ps 149:1-2) it says, "Praise ye the Lord.  Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the assembly of the saints. Let Israel rejoice in their maker, let the children of Zion be joyful in their King".

The third weapon is musical instruments, in (Ps 149:3) it says "Let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp".  Also in (Ps 150:3-5) it says "Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltry and harp... praise him with stringed instruments and organs.  Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals".

The fourth weapon is the most underused in the church today. It is dance.  In (Ps 149:3) it says, "Let them praise his name in the dance".  (Ps 150:4) "Praise him with the timbrel and dance".  We are starting to get a picture here of what God has intended for us to have.  He has equipped us and created us to praise him and dance is an important part.  The word "Orcheomai" like "Chagag" refers to dances done in a row or in a ring.  It connotes rank like or regular motion. "Mechowlah" also translated "Dance" means a company or dances.  The definition of "Company" or "Machaneh" is an army of dancers.  We are his army and we must take our places in the ranks.

The fifth weapon is our heart.  In (Jn. 4:23) it say "But the hour is coming, and now is when the true worshippers will worship the father in spirit and truth; for the father is seeking such to worship him.  We must worship with the right heart, for all the right reasons.  What does he desire?  A clean heart, a pure heart that doesn't lift up his soul to any idol or speak what is false.  Our worship is not to bring glory to man but to the one who created man.  If we bring glory to ourselves we are partakers with Satan himself.  Everything we have is because God gave it to us.

To sum up. As we praise Yahweh with singing, dancing, musical instruments, and the power of God's word, Vengeance is taken on our enemies and judgment is executed.  I hope that we all will join in God's army and take our rightful place and use our worship as warfare.  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. (2 Cor. 10:4). Hallelujah!!
